Hugging Face Unveils Microduck, a $399 Open-Source Robot Duck That Teaches Itself to Walk

Hugging Face and its robotics team Pollen Robotics have unveiled Microduck, a $399 open-source bipedal robot shaped like a duck. Standing about 25 centimeters tall with 15 motors, a camera, a LiDAR sensor, and two IMUs, it can walk, sit, crouch, and recover from falls, and its full software stack, including a reinforcement-learning training system, is open source so students and hobbyists can teach it new behaviors. Pre-orders are open now, with first deliveries targeted before Christmas 2026 in North America, Europe, and the UK.
