Researchers at Stanford, working with teams in China, gave older mice a two-month course of a supplement made from a compound found in edible sea squirts, and the mice showed better memory, stronger brain connections, less inflammation, and even darker, thicker hair. The compound, called a plasmalogen, naturally declines with age and is already linked to conditions like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. The scientists are careful to note that mice are not people, so the findings do not yet prove the supplement would work the same way in humans.
