Engineers Build a Map to Design Space Habitats That Keep Astronauts Mentally Healthy

Researchers from MIT and the University of Colorado Boulder have published a new interactive tool that connects features of a spacecraft's design, like lighting, privacy, and layout, to astronauts' emotional wellbeing on long missions. The NASA supported tool, called HECIA, is meant to help engineers build healthier habitats for future crews heading to the Moon and Mars.
