Scientists Discover Ancient Bees Once Nested Inside the Empty Tooth Sockets of Bones

Paleontologists have found the first known evidence that ancient bees built nests inside the empty tooth sockets of mammal bones in a Caribbean cave, some 20,000 years ago. One jaw contained six nesting chambers stacked inside a single tooth socket, complete with fossilized pollen the bee mothers had sealed in for their young, a never-before-seen survival strategy published in Royal Society Open Science.
