
Researchers analyzing nickel isotopes from the Chicxulub impact site have identified the dinosaur-killing asteroid as an exceptionally rare CO chondrite, a meteorite type that makes up only a sliver of material found on Earth. The finding suggests fine dust from the impact, not sulfur, may have delivered the deadliest blow to life on the planet.
