US Destroys Iranian Boats After a Failed Attempt to Seize an American Navy Drone

On September 14, 2026, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps used small boats to try to seize an unmanned US Navy surface vessel patrolling the Strait of Hormuz. US forces detected the attempt and a US drone destroyed the Iranian boats with missiles, killing most of those aboard, while the American vessel remained under US control. Iranian officials blamed the United States and said fishermen were missing, in the latest episode of a months-long standoff between the two countries over the strategic waterway.
