Foreign ministers from Iran and the six Gulf Cooperation Council states were due to meet on Monday in the Omani city of Salalah, the first such gathering since the Iran war began in February 2026. Late on Sunday Oman postponed the meeting in the interests of consensus and gave no new date. The agenda was a temporary arrangement for commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, where about a fifth of the world's oil normally travels.
