NASA's New Roman Telescope Could Now Work for Twenty Two Years

NASA said on September 14, 2026 that an unusually precise first course correction has roughly doubled the potential working life of the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, from an original ten year design to at least twenty two years. The telescope, launched in late August 2026, used only a fraction of its planned fuel for the maneuver, leaving far more in reserve for years of future science.
