🇩🇰 AI Danish tutor

Practice speaking Danish with an AI tutor who corrects you in real time

Quick answer

SpeakBase's AI Danish tutor, Kate, holds live voice conversations in Danish, corrects word order and pronunciation as you speak, and explains in English or Arabic. She does not switch to English when you are slow. The first lesson is free with no card; Premium is $11.99 a month.

Kate is a live voice tutor. You talk in Danish, she talks back like a real person, and the moment you make a real mistake she stops, corrects it and explains why in English, then steers the conversation so you use the right form again. No scripts, no recorded phrases, no waiting for a booking.

What a lesson looks like

  • Pick a situation: 48 role-plays from ordering coffee to a job interview, or type your own (“dinner with my partner’s parents”) and Kate rehearses exactly that.
  • Talk for five to ten minutes. Kate adapts the speed and vocabulary to your level and keeps the conversation moving.
  • Every real mistake is corrected in the moment and explained in English.
  • At the end you get a recap of your mistakes with corrected phrases; they come back in later lessons until you get them right.

A real correction, as Kate makes it

I morgen jeg skal til jobcentret.

I morgen skal jeg til jobcentret.

When a Danish sentence starts with a time like 'i morgen' (tomorrow), the verb comes second, before the subject. Kate explains it in English the moment you say it, then asks what you are doing on Friday so you use the order again.

Why Danish needs a live tutor, not another app

The sounds are the hard part, not the grammar

Danish swallows its consonants and has more vowel sounds than English. The soft d in 'mad' (food) and 'rødgrød', the glottal catch called stød, and endings that almost disappear mean a word you can read can still be a word nobody understands when you say it. Kate says the word back the Danish way and has you try it in your next sentence.

The verb comes second

Start a Danish sentence with a time or a place and the verb jumps in front of the subject: 'I morgen skal jeg til lægen', not 'I morgen jeg skal'. English speakers break this rule in almost every sentence that starts with 'today', 'then' or 'at work', and Danes notice it at once.

Danes switch to English

The most common complaint from newcomers: you try Danish, they answer in English, and the practice stops. You need somewhere to keep talking in Danish when you are slow, with someone who waits, corrects you and does not switch.

Frequently asked questions

What kind of Danish does Kate speak?

Standard Danish (rigsdansk), the Danish of the news and of most workplaces. She speaks a little slower for beginners and tells you the everyday way to say things, not only the textbook way.

Can I practise for real situations in Denmark?

Yes. Type the situation you need, such as a meeting at the jobcenter, a call to your doctor, a job interview or a parent meeting at school, and Kate rehearses it with you in Danish.

Does the AI tutor correct pronunciation?

Yes. When a word comes out in a way a Dane would not understand, Kate says it back the Danish way and asks you to use it again in your next sentence.

How much does it cost after the free lesson?

$11.99 a month for daily practice, billed in US dollars, or $119.99 a year. That is less than one hour with a private Danish teacher.
