🇸🇪 AI Swedish tutor
Practice speaking Swedish with an AI tutor who corrects you in real time
Quick answer
SpeakBase's AI Swedish tutor, Kate, holds live voice conversations in Swedish, corrects word order and pronunciation as you speak, and explains in English or Arabic. She does not switch to English when you are slow. The first lesson is free with no card; Premium is $11.99 a month.
Kate is a live voice tutor. You talk in Swedish, she talks back like a real person, and the moment you make a real mistake she stops, corrects it and explains why in English, then steers the conversation so you use the right form again. No scripts, no recorded phrases, no waiting for a booking.

What a lesson looks like
- Pick a situation: 48 role-plays from ordering coffee to a job interview, or type your own (“dinner with my partner’s parents”) and Kate rehearses exactly that.
- Talk for five to ten minutes. Kate adapts the speed and vocabulary to your level and keeps the conversation moving.
- Every real mistake is corrected in the moment and explained in English.
- At the end you get a recap of your mistakes with corrected phrases; they come back in later lessons until you get them right.
A real correction, as Kate makes it
I går jag var på SFI.
I går var jag på SFI.
When a Swedish sentence starts with a time like 'i går' (yesterday), the verb comes second, before the subject. Kate explains it in English the moment you say it, then asks what you did at the weekend so you use the order again.
Why Swedish needs a live tutor, not another app
The melody changes the word
Swedish has two word melodies, and some words are told apart only by which one you use: 'anden' can be the duck or the spirit. Long and short vowels matter too ('vit' and 'vitt'), and the sj sound in 'sju' and 'sjuksköterska' has no English match. Kate says the word back the Swedish way and has you use it again.
The verb comes second
Start a Swedish sentence with a time or a place and the verb jumps in front of the subject: 'I går var jag på SFI', not 'I går jag var'. English speakers break this rule in almost every sentence that starts with 'today', 'then' or 'at work'.
Swedes switch to English
Newcomers say it again and again: you try Swedish, they answer in English, and the practice stops. You need somewhere to keep talking in Swedish when you are slow, with someone who waits, corrects you and does not switch.

Frequently asked questions
What kind of Swedish does Kate speak?
Standard Swedish (rikssvenska), the Swedish of the news and of most workplaces. She speaks a little slower for beginners and tells you the everyday way to say things, not only the textbook way.
Can I practise for real situations in Sweden?
Yes. Type the situation you need, such as a meeting at Arbetsförmedlingen, a call to 1177 or your health centre, a job interview or a parent meeting at school, and Kate rehearses it with you in Swedish.
Does the AI tutor correct pronunciation?
Yes. When a word comes out in a way a Swede would not understand, Kate says it back the Swedish way and asks you to use it again in your next sentence.
How much does it cost after the free lesson?
$11.99 a month for daily practice, billed in US dollars, or $119.99 a year. That is less than one hour with a private Swedish teacher.
