🇩🇰 Danish level test

Free Danish level test: find your real level by speaking

Quick answer

The SpeakBase Danish level test is a free 3-minute spoken conversation in Danish with an AI tutor, graded on the CEFR scale from A1 to C1. You speak, Kate adjusts the difficulty, and you get your level and tips in English at the end. No download and no card.

Most online Danish tests are multiple choice, so they measure reading and guessing. This one measures the thing you actually want: whether you can hold a Danish conversation. You talk with Kate for about three minutes, she raises the difficulty until you start to struggle, and you get a CEFR level (A1 to C1) with specific tips in English on what to fix first.

What the test sounds like

Kate opens easy and adapts to you. A typical three minutes moves through prompts like these, in Danish:

  1. Introduce yourself: your name, where you are from and what you do in Denmark.
  2. You call the kommune to book a meeting. Say who you are and ask for a time that suits you.
  3. Tell me about your first weeks in Denmark, or why you want to speak Danish.

If you are stuck, say so in English. Kate explains and moves on; struggling near the end is normal and is exactly what tells the grader where your ceiling is.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the same as Prøve i Dansk?

No. Prøve i Dansk is the official Danish language exam and tests reading, writing, listening and speaking. This free test is only speaking and gives a CEFR estimate of how you speak today. It is good practice before an exam, not a replacement for one.

Do I need to write anything?

No. The test is entirely spoken. You listen and answer in Danish, and the result comes in English.

What is in the result?

Your CEFR level, scores for fluency, vocabulary, grammar and interaction, and up to three tips in English on what to fix first, such as word order or a sound.
