🇮🇱 AI Hebrew tutor

Practice speaking Hebrew with an AI tutor who corrects you in real time

Quick answer

SpeakBase's AI Hebrew tutor, Kate, holds live voice conversations in Modern Israeli Hebrew, corrects mistakes as you make them and explains in English. Built in Israel. The first lesson is free with no card; Premium is $11.99 a month for daily practice.

Kate is a live voice tutor. You talk in Hebrew, she talks back like a real person, and the moment you make a real mistake she stops, corrects it and explains why in English, then steers the conversation so you use the right form again. No scripts, no recorded phrases, no waiting for a booking.

What a lesson looks like

  • Pick a situation: 48 role-plays from ordering coffee to a job interview, or type your own (“dinner with my partner’s parents”) and Kate rehearses exactly that.
  • Talk for five to ten minutes. Kate adapts the speed and vocabulary to your level and keeps the conversation moving.
  • Every real mistake is corrected in the moment and explained in English.
  • At the end you get a recap of your mistakes with corrected phrases; they come back in later lessons until you get them right.

A real correction, as Kate makes it

Ani rotze le'echol ba mis'ada hazot.

Ani rotza le'echol bamis'ada hazot.

For a woman speaking, 'rotze' becomes 'rotza', and 'be' plus 'ha' contracts into 'ba' attached to the noun. Kate explains in English, then asks what you want to order so you say 'rotza' again immediately.

Why Hebrew needs a live tutor, not another app

Reading is not the bottleneck, speaking is

Many English speakers can sound out Hebrew from years of Hebrew school and still cannot ask for a coffee in Tel Aviv. Prayer-book Hebrew and street Hebrew share an alphabet and little else. The vocabulary, the speed and the slang of everyday Israeli speech are learned by speaking with someone who answers back.

Roots and binyanim

Hebrew builds words from three-letter roots poured into patterns: k-t-v gives 'katav' (he wrote), 'nichtav' (was written), 'hichtiv' (dictated), 'hitkatev' (corresponded). It is elegant and it is a lot to hold in your head. Speakers learn to feel the pattern by using it, not by memorising the chart.

Gender in every sentence, including 'you'

'Ata' to a man, 'at' to a woman, and the verb changes with them: 'ata rotze', 'at rotza'. English speakers get the noun genders wrong and the second-person forms wrong, every sentence, until someone corrects them every time. That is the whole reason for a live tutor.

Frequently asked questions

Who built this AI Hebrew tutor?

SpeakBase is built by Safot Sheli, a language school in Israel. Hebrew is the tutor's home language: the phrases, the corrections and the slang are Israeli, not textbook.

Does Kate correct masculine and feminine forms?

Yes, every time. Gender agreement in Hebrew is the most common mistake English speakers make, and it is exactly the kind of error that only goes away with someone catching it in the moment and explaining why.

Can I prepare for aliyah or a job in Israel with it?

Yes. Choose the missions you will actually face: renting an apartment, a doctor's visit, a job interview, a phone call to a government office. Or type your own situation and Kate will rehearse it with you in Hebrew.

How much does it cost after the free lesson?

$11.99 a month for daily practice, billed in US dollars. That is less than one hour with a private Hebrew tutor.
