Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan Sign Landmark Mutual Defense Pact in Mecca

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif signed a trilateral mutual defense agreement in Mecca on Friday, declaring that an attack on any one of the three nations will be treated as an attack on all three. The pact unites NATO member Turkey's military, Saudi Arabia's economic weight, and nuclear armed Pakistan's armed forces into a new security alliance amid the ongoing conflict between the United States and Iran and rising attacks on Gulf shipping.
