
UC Berkeley researchers have shown that an experimental compound called TOFA boosts the body's own energy burning by up to 18 percent in obese mice, melting away fat while preserving muscle. Unlike Ozempic-style drugs, which mainly work by suppressing appetite, TOFA appears to rev up metabolism directly, and it worked even better when paired with a GLP-1 drug.
