
Engineers at the University of Texas at Austin have built a soft wearable patch that uses gentle ultrasound and brain sensing electrodes to help people reach REM sleep faster and stay in it longer. In early testing on 28 people, the device cut the time to REM sleep by 43 minutes with no medication or surgery required.
