Stone Age Hunter-Gatherers Stocked Norway's Mountain Lakes With Trout 7,000 Years Ago

Archaeologists studying wooden fish traps at Lake Tesse in the mountains of southern Norway have found evidence that Mesolithic hunter-gatherers deliberately carried live brown trout into previously fishless lakes around 5000 BCE, centuries before farming reached the region. Researchers call it the oldest documented example of humans intentionally moving a fish species into a new habitat.
