New Laser Technique Called TRIP Could Speed Up Drug Discovery

Researchers at Texas A&M University have invented TRIP, a laser based technique that directly measures the quantum forces involved in protein interactions and drug binding in water like conditions for the first time. The team tested TRIP on the SARS-CoV-2 main protease and showed it could predict how well antiviral drugs bind to it, a discovery that could speed up research into treatments for cancer, Alzheimer's disease, and infectious diseases.
