FDA Approves First Daily Pill That Cuts Bad Cholesterol as Much as an Injection

The FDA has approved Lipfendra, made by Merck, as the first oral PCSK9 inhibitor for lowering LDL cholesterol, a once-daily pill that cut bad cholesterol by up to 60% in clinical trials. Until now, this powerful class of cholesterol drugs was only available as an injection, and doctors say a pill option could help far more patients stick with treatment.
