Iran Marks Its Largest Funeral Day Yet as Israel Strikes Targets in Lebanon

Iran held prayers at the Jamkaran Mosque near Qom on July 7, 2026, in what officials call one of the largest days yet in the multi-day state funeral for Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, killed in a February 28 US-Israeli airstrike. Iran's Health Ministry estimates about 15 million people will take part in the funeral across all its days, even as Israel struck targets linked to Hezbollah and Palestinian Islamic Jihad in Lebanon on July 6, killing two senior commanders.
