New Plasma Technique Could Unlock Smaller and More Powerful Computer Chips

Scientists have developed a plasma-based etching method that removes molybdenum disulfide one atomic layer at a time without damaging the material below. The breakthrough could help the chip industry move beyond the physical limits of silicon and build transistors at the one-nanometre scale and beyond.
