Researchers at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden, have found a way to carry out a family of operations on bosonic quantum states in a single driving cycle, making some of them more than 1,000 times faster than before. The work, published in Physical Review Letters, combines quantum lattice gates with a technique called Floquet control and is built to suit the superconducting circuits many laboratories already own. It is laboratory research aimed at quantum error correction, not a finished machine.
