Beyonce marked Independence Day with an unannounced release, dropping 'Morning Dew (Donk)' as a surprise gift to fans and, notably, her first new song in roughly two years.
Credits list Beyonce alongside Pharrell Williams, The-Dream, and Darius Dixon as writers, with production handled jointly by Beyonce and Williams, longtime collaborators dating back to some of her most celebrated early work.
The track carries an unusual backstory: it was reportedly recorded in 2013, then surfaced only as a brief unofficial snippet in 2021 before circulating in full among fans years later, making this release less a brand-new song than the formal unveiling of a long-rumored one.
Its arrival is timed deliberately, launching a sixty-day countdown to Beyonce's next birthday and, with it, the twentieth-anniversary reissue of 'B'Day,' the groundbreaking sophomore album originally released in September 2006, onto which 'Morning Dew (Donk)' will now be officially added.

Beyonce marked America's Independence Day with an unannounced release, unveiling 'Morning Dew (Donk)' as a surprise offering to fans and, notably, her first new recording in approximately two years, a gap conspicuous for an artist whose release cadence has otherwise rarely stalled.
Writing credits extend to Pharrell Williams, The-Dream, and Darius Dixon, with production jointly overseen by Beyonce and Williams, a partnership whose creative lineage stretches back to some of the most celebrated work of her earlier career.
The track's provenance lends it an unusual weight: reportedly laid down in 2013, it existed for years only as a fragmentary, unauthorized snippet that surfaced online in 2021 before fuller versions began circulating among devoted listeners, rendering this official release less a debut than a long-deferred vindication of persistent fan speculation.
Its timing is calculated rather than incidental, inaugurating a sixty-day countdown to Beyonce's upcoming birthday that culminates in the twentieth-anniversary reissue of 'B'Day,' the 2006 sophomore album now retrospectively regarded as a pivotal artistic turning point, onto which 'Morning Dew (Donk)' will be formally appended as a newly authorized addition to the record's legacy.
