Interview Warmup alternative
Looking for Google Interview Warmup? A free AI mock interview you can still use
Quick answer
Google's Interview Warmup, the free tool that asked practice interview questions and turned your spoken answers into text, is no longer available: its old address now redirects to other Google career pages. SpeakBase is an alternative that goes a step further. Instead of reading out a question and transcribing your answer, Kate, an AI interviewer, holds a real spoken interview with you, asks follow-up questions about what you said, and corrects your English as you go, with explanations in your own language if you prefer. The first lesson is free (5 minutes, no card). With Premium you can upload your CV so every question is about your own experience.
Interview Warmup was popular with career centres and job seekers because it was free, quick and private: pick a field, answer a few questions out loud, read back what you said. If you used it, or your page still links to it, here is what it did, what to use now, and how to get the same kind of practice with a conversation instead of a question list.

What Interview Warmup did
- It offered sets of practice questions for different fields, plus general background and situational questions.
- You answered out loud, and the tool showed your answer as text.
- It pointed out patterns in your answer, such as the words you used most and job related terms you mentioned.
- It did not ask follow-up questions or tell you how to improve a sentence. It was a mirror, not an interviewer.
How to practise a mock interview with SpeakBase
- Open SpeakBase and pick the Job interview role-play. Kate plays a friendly hiring manager and asks you to introduce yourself and answer typical questions.
- Answer out loud, in full sentences, as you would in the real interview. Kate reacts to what you actually said and asks a follow-up, the way a real interviewer does.
- When a sentence comes out wrong, Kate gives you the corrected version and can explain it in your own language. You can repeat it once and move on.
- With Premium, upload your CV (PDF, Word, slides, a photo or pasted text). Kate then asks about your roles, achievements and any gaps. Contact details are removed first and the CV is not stored.
- After the lesson you get a recap of what went well and the corrections worth remembering, and they become flashcards for review.
Questions worth rehearsing out loud
- Tell me about yourself.
- Why do you want this job?
- What did you achieve in your last role?
- Tell me about a time you solved a difficult problem.
- Tell me about a disagreement with a colleague and how you handled it.
- What is your greatest weakness?
- Where do you see yourself in a few years?
- Do you have any questions for us?
Other free ways to practise
- Your college or university career centre: many offer mock interviews with a person, which is still the best rehearsal you can get.
- A friend or family member with a list of questions and a timer. Ask them to interrupt with one follow-up question per answer.
- General AI chat apps with voice mode. They can ask questions, but you have to set up the role yourself and ask for corrections.
- Record yourself on your phone and listen back. Uncomfortable, but it shows filler words and rushed endings fast.
