IELTS speaking practice

The IELTS speaking section is a fluency test. Fluency needs daily speaking.

The speaking interview is the part of IELTS you cannot cram: examiners score fluency, pronunciation, vocabulary range and grammar produced live, under pressure. Those grow only with spoken practice, and most candidates get almost none between mock tests. SpeakBase Talk gives you a daily speaking partner: Kate asks interview-style questions on everyday and abstract topics, keeps you talking, corrects your grammar and phrasing in real time, and adapts up as you improve. To be clear: SpeakBase is not an IELTS preparation course and is not affiliated with IELTS. It is the daily conversation mileage your interview score is built on.

What daily practice with Kate gives you

Interview-style questions

Everyday topics, opinions and follow-ups at your level, moving up as you do.

Corrections that stick

Grammar and phrasing fixed in real time with a short explanation; mistakes become review flashcards.

Fluency under mild pressure

A live partner keeps turns moving, training retrieval speed, the core of the fluency score.

A CEFR speaking estimate

A spoken level check locates you from A1 to C2, so progress is measured, not felt.

Why candidates plateau on speaking

Reading and listening improve with solo study, so they get the hours. Speaking usually gets a weekly tutor session at best, and zero practice at answering an unexpected question out loud within seconds. The interview punishes exactly that gap: hesitation, fillers, memorized phrases that collapse on a follow-up question. Daily minutes of unpredictable conversation are the missing ingredient.

Practice the interview shape, not a script

Ask Kate to interview you: short personal questions, then a longer topic to develop, then follow-ups that push you to justify opinions. It mirrors the shape of the exam interview without pretending to be it. Because it is a live conversation, you cannot memorize your way through, which is the point.

Know where you stand on the CEFR scale

SpeakBase's spoken level check grades your speaking on the CEFR scale from A1 to C2. IELTS publishes an approximate correspondence between bands and CEFR levels, so tracking your CEFR speaking level over weeks gives you an honest, independent signal of progress, without anyone promising you a band score.

Frequently asked questions

Is this an IELTS preparation course?

No, and it does not pretend to be. SpeakBase is a daily speaking practice tool. Use it for the fluency, vocabulary and confidence the interview scores; use official IELTS materials for exam format and strategy.

Can it predict my band score?

No, and be wary of tools that claim to. It grades your speaking on the CEFR scale, and IELTS publishes an approximate band-to-CEFR correspondence you can consult.

How often should I practice before the exam?

Ten to twenty minutes daily in the final month beats occasional long sessions. Fluency is a perishable skill; daily minutes keep it warm through exam day.

How much does it cost?

The first 5-minute trial lesson is free, no credit card. Premium is 39 ILS per month in Israel or 11.99 USD internationally, with up to 20 minutes a day and 150 a month.

Does it help with TOEFL or other speaking exams too?

Yes. The skills are the same: fluent, structured spoken answers to unexpected questions. The practice transfers to any spoken exam interview.
