Perhaps the most striking result concerns the animal's tail, where UV light revealed alternating bands that researchers interpret as possible evidence of ancient camouflage. If this interpretation holds, it would represent the oldest known evidence of coloration in any crocodylomorph. The study also identified what may be sensory organs and complex respiratory structures preserved in the same fossil, adding further detail to a remarkably rare glimpse of soft anatomy from the age of dinosaurs.
